Removing Stress in the World One Woman's Body at a Time

The Red Treatments- Massage Therapies

We have categorized our treatments based upon the Chakra system of the body.  This color coded energetic component of the body gives another avenue to explore, discover and enhance one’s understanding of their body.  Brief explanations of how each set of treatments corresponds to each of the major 7 chakra are given.

The Red Treatments:   Red is the base color for the Root chakra.   These treatments appeal to your body’s basic needs of touch, relaxation and muscular tissue work.   The Root Chakra governs our survival and family of origin issues.  This chakra keeps us grounded in our physical bodies; acknowledging and experiencing the body’s language of pain, discomfort and range of motion.  These treatments give us ways of addressing what our bodies are telling us.

Therapeutic Massage

Swedish massage is the massage techniques every American massage therapist is taught in school.  These techniques provide the base for all massage.  Each therapist takes these techniques and creates their own specialized method based on their interests and the treatment desires and goals of their clients.

Our interests are in utilizing these techniques to enhance the body’s natural ability to heal. Thus we have developed our methods as having a Therapeutic end goal.  We tailor our techniques to bring about the desired goal of each individual client, whether that need is for recovery from injury or just recovery from stressful daily living.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue provides a stronger experience of the Therapeutic Massage techniques.  By specializing each technique to exert a stronger influence on the body’s condition, deep tissue may produce longer lasting results but some may find them to be painful.  We try to modify all our techniques to client comfort but it is common to feel some tenderness for one to two days afterward.

Each of us has a specific form of deep tissue we practice.  This distinction is based on our continuing educational training.

Precision Therapy — Lora’s specialty

With this unique form of deep tissue massage, Precision Therapy releases tension throughout the layers of the body.  With each release the body’s natural ability to cleanse and restore muscular tissues back to a healthy state in enhanced, thereby decreasing pain and dysfunction. With the addition of Non-Surgical Neurovascular Decompression techniques; symptoms from carpal tunnel, sciatica, even thoracic outlet syndrome can be successfully addressed.

Prenatal  (Pregnancy) Massage– Lora’s Specialty

Lora has been trained to appropriately administered massage techniques specialized for each stage of development.  This supportive and nurturing form of massage addresses many musculoskeletal, emotional and psychological discomforts expectant women experience.   By decreasing stress with massage, the woman is better prepared (emotionally, physically and mentally) for becoming a mother, labor is often easier and babies are born healthier.

Hot Stone Massage

A specialty massage technique, Hot Stone is exactly what  it says, a massage with Hot Stones– well really Warm stones.  Each smooth basalt stone is warmed to just over body temperature to provide a deep penetrating heat allowing muscles to release, increasing circulation and helping open channels to eliminate toxins built up in the tissues.  Wonderful for osteoarthritis, back pains, aches, insomnia, relieving stress or just relieving that bone chilled feeling some can have during these New England winters.

What to expect during a session

Your massage session will be in a warm, comfortable, quiet room with soft music playing to help you relax.  You will lie comfortably on a table especially designed for your comfort.

Massage is traditionally performed with the client (you) unclothed; however, you are always in control and may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for your own comfort.  Certain articles of clothing may be requested removed (i.e. the strap from a bra for adequate back work) by your therapist – you are encouraged to discuss anything that makes you uncomfortable.  Your therapist will leave the room while you undress and relax on the table beneath the sheet provided.

You will always be draped by a sheet, to keep you warm and comfortable.  Only the specific body part receiving massage will be exposed while treated.  A light oil or cream will be used to help permit your muscles and skin to be worked without causing excessive friction.

Sessions can be any length of time, although many people prefer a sixty to ninety minute massage for optimal relaxation.  Your therapist will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout your session – all you need to do is relax and be comfortable.  Some people enjoy talking, others just close their eyes, either is welcomed as long as it encourages your full relaxation.

Please note: there are certain medical conditions that make massage inadvisable or in need of alteration,.  Therefore it is most important for you to fully inform your therapist of any and all health problems or medications you may be taking.  Thank you.
